Gettin' Cold Feet
As many of you know and just as many don't, I'm a musician that has tucked her talent deep into the closet. My only exposure now to a recording studio is the 60 seconds it takes to record a radio commercial. 20 years ago I would have thought nothing about standing up on a lit stage and performing in front of a large crowd. I graduated in the mid '80's with a Bachelors and Masters in Music Education. I LIVED to be on the stage whether it was a large musical production or singing in an intimate jazz club with a small combo. That was then, this is now. My musical soul and spirit has lost it's spark and it's time for the fire to be lit once again. So, tomorrow evening, I'm back in the game auditioning for a musical at the Midland Community Theater. Wow! Talk about nerves creeping back into the psyche! Who would have thought that such a veteran ham would become a basket of mushy nerves. But as a good friend told me, "Carpe Diem". It's time to fill the soul again with the things that make us the most happy in life.
Life's funny like that isn't it. You know you're making the right decision. it doesn't matter if it's changing jobs, taking on a challenging new responsibility or committing to a life partner. You know this is the person whom you want to spend the rest of your life. Being with them completes you and fills your soul with joy. Now's the time to take the plunge. Seize the Day. Carpe Diem!
