Gold Doesn't Rust

Posted by Cathy Fleck on 07/20/2010

Today I was having a conversation with a friend and telling him about my anxiety of getting back up on stage (see previous post).  Did I still have what it takes to shine again?  The reply was "Cathy, remember, gold doesn't rust".  Those words have just been swirling in my head and in my heart.  Gold doesn't rust.  Wow.  I know we were talking about music and talent but that saying is so appropriate for what I do every day at Occasions.

Think of all the gifts given to you over the years, the sweaters, the dolls, the CD's, the kitchen gadgets.  I bet if you polled a room full of women and asked them the one gift they received that they would never part with, it would be a piece of jewelry given to them by someone special.  It could be the little locket you received when you turned 16 or the wedding band that you were given the day you were married.  I have my grandmother's wedding band. It's very thin and not worth much monetarily.  But to me, it's priceless.  She wore it for almost 60 years.  It can't be replaced. I've put a nice polish on it and it still shines like the day is was made.  Some things are just far more valuable than the price put on the tag.  Always remember that.  Gold doesn't rust.
