I sincerely apologize for taking so long between writings.  I’d love to say that I was completely slammed and so busy I couldn’t look up, but in reality, I just let it slip by me.  Life happens.  Sometimes I get bogged down with trying to decide on a subject.  Sometimes I get stuck in the world of “trying to be clever but feel like a dork”.  Then sometimes I wake up in the morning and think….Today I’m going to set a goal to write my blog every Monday and make it a daily habit. ….Like I said, Life Happens. 

So today, I thought I’d just make a running list of things I’m passionate about.  A list of my favorite designers.   A list of my favorite colored gemstones.  Random, strung out, no rhyme or reason patterns.  Just a list.  Maybe I’m feeling inspired by Maria’s song “My Favorite Things” from The Sound of Music. (BTW, Midland Community Theater is performing this show this Fall.) I don’t know what inspired me.  I just know that maybe this random list of items will get me going.  So here’s my list:

Galatea Pearls and Chi Huynh, Imperial Topaz, Olga Kats and SOHO, Eva Cassidy, my aquarium, Mike Fleck (this list is not in any preference order, Honey…I said random), amazing customer service, Facebook and my iPod, singing in the living room with my friends,  diamonds, my grandma’s wedding band, CHOCOLATE and CHAMPAGNE, world and ethnic music, DIVERSITY, my family, kids and my grandkids, Kauai, Simon G. Jewelry, crying, cooking, laughing, Christmas (even though my husband told me I’d grow to dislike it when I got into retail) Christmas music (I NEVER get tired of it) travel, high heels and big hair (sounds like a country song), my Dad, cabbage rolls, tsavorite garnets and my cats. 

To be fair, there are TONS of things I didn’t type.  I’m going to make this a perpetual list.  This is just a start. Sometimes things need to start with just a list.  My goal is to type my blog and pull a subject from my list.  I don’t believe everything about Occasions Fine Jewelry has to be about selling jewelry.  I do believe that everything about Occasions Fine Jewelry has to do with making memories and honoring emotions and moments in our life.  Everything on my list has a memory and a profound reason for being one of my favorite things.    What are your favorite things?  What memory do your favorite things inspire?
